Hi diddly ho clanarinoes
I have a PC problem and I'm hoping one of the tech guru's around might have an answer for me.
I have 2 computers that intermittently reboot. It can be minutes apart or sometimes go for hours. It can be under load, like in Freelancer or just in cards or surfin the net. Sometimes it reboots just sitting there on desktop. Both of them do it.
I have changed the Ram chips, the video cards, the hard drives and the ide cables. I have also changed to another powerpoint, used different power boards and leads. I have them in different rooms, still they reboot.
I would next try the motherboard but what are the chances of two dying at the same time? I have ran AVG antivirus and Spyware Doctor, all clean. I reinstalled Win XP on both (but not SP2).
My normal computer and my WoW server are running fine.
Any ideas please?

I think this is just a simple heat problem, the same thing was happening to my computer. Sometimes when your graphics card, motheboard anything that requires a cool fan, will overheat especially if you are running them 24/7.
So with all the heat the computer cant cope and in its own little way of helping reboots itself or in some cases turns the machine off.
I would recommend getting better cooling in your machine, or take it to a professional computer thingo guy.

no that would be a waste of money. get water cooling and see what happens, or a cheaper way, get a better fan and heatsinks

Thanx for the assist guys. Looks like you lobbed it. I put 1 of the PC's into a Lanboy box with extra fans and it seems to have done the trick, well, so far so good I have the side off and 4 fans running in it. (and it looks better with all the pretty blue lights and stuff :8

umm this is my thing that i solve being the person who Screws around with all this . p.s. i solved the Globel server problem I also get this problem dw your not the only one you may have a virus and may have norton antivirus on or somthin of teh same componets for helping your pc. this is what playing Freelancer risk's it is a very good transmitter of all kinds of virsus , once your anti virus system picks the virus coming through Freelancer, and remeber that after you have played it once it can transfer virsus with out the anti pickin them up and stay in you comp unoticed for days to weeks even. and once picked up there is a problem in every Freelancer cd that still havent figured out .that when your antivirus picks a virus up it can only figure one possiable way to keep the virus from entering and coruptin any files it shuts down completely and will restart itself blocking the virus from entering , butt usally teh virus remains there and will do it eventually again and teh same thing will happen. if so just simply scan for viruses and cleansweep your comp regularly and this shouldnt happen again. this is the easiest way i can tell somene hope it helps

If you have one of the sides off, i recommend u do the best to keep dust outta there. I cant remember exactly what but I remember hearing that if dust gets in a certain part of the computer, u need a new part and i believe whatever it is, its pricey

I remember my sisters computer, jesus christ that was stupidity to the extream. She opens up the computer because she wanted to know what was inside, she opens it right, takes a look inside and keeps it open. She continues to use the comptuer for another 7 months until it stops working. So shes wondering "The fuck? Why isnt this piece of shit working?", so guess who she calls to help. I came, and to my suprise I saw something completly idiotic, there was an actual cobweb all over the motherboard and a layer of eggs on the gfx card. I felt like kicking her in the ass. No fucking wonder it wasnt working. And to add to that, she took some mortein and started spraying it all over the computer while it was still on. She sprayed it on the power supply and you can guess the rest. She blew out a circuit board or something on my house, so I was also without power for a few days.

K guys, it was definately the heat thing. I have put the side back on and it is running a treat. The 2nd PC that was doing it was aheap of crap so I just chucked it anyway. The PC that was rebooting was only used on Freelancer by Rose so I doubt it had anything to do with a virus transmitted via FL as it wasn't on often. I use AVG and Spyware Doctor every day and it cleans out anything I catch, I hope I saw a PC in the local computer shop one day that had a mouse nest in it complete with nicely cooked baby mice, smelled a treat - lol
